The best birthday present I ever got was a hamster named Squeaky. For my eighth birthday, my parents gave me a hamster. I didn’t know anything about hamsters, so I had to learn what to feed him and what kind of cage to keep him in. After a couple of weeks, Squeaky got used to his new home and wanted to explore every inch of the house. He liked to sleep in my lap when I watched television or played video games. Squeaky slept a lot during the day, but at night, he would jump on the wheel in his cage and go round and round for hours. Squeaky could always make me laugh, especially when he rolled all over the kitchen floor in his hamster ball. I had Squeaky for three wonderful years, and he was special because he was my first real pet. I have gotten some other great birthday presents throughout my life, but Squeaky, by far, was the coolest and best birthday present I ever received.
